Some of our common Frequently Asked Questions about our event

The base fly-in pass includes a parking spot on the concrete ramp. There are tie downs for roughly 75 planes and spaces for another 150 planes (bring your own ropes). The local EAA chapter will professionally handle the general aviation parking traffic pattern.

Mid-American Air Center is located at Lawrenceville-Vincennes International Airport, a former Army Air Corps training base during World War II. It’s open every day of the year. Our personnel expect a busy day on Sunday, April 7, with the greatest activity during the eclipse 2024 weekend on Monday, April 8.

The Hangar Party – featuring Intrigue show band from Detroit — is Sunday, April 7. It starts at 6 p.m. A VIP dinner is also available that evening at the Mid-American Air Center Terminal. Food trucks, music and family fun at Mid-America Air Center begins again early Monday, April 8.

Dancing in the Dark is a two-day event at Mid-American Air Center. While there are more activities in the nearby area, our event is two days. Camping begins at noon on Sunday, April 7 and ends at noon on April 9. Our main activities are the Hangar Party and VIP dinner on April 7, plus the Fly-in and outdoor concert on April 8 in conjunction with the solar eclipse. The Kids Zone is set for April 8.

Everyone is welcome to enjoy Eclipse 2024 and Dancing in the Dark. The Hangar Party is open to the public with a ticket price set for everyone to enjoy. On the day of the Eclipse, Mid-American Air Center will welcome visitors in planes but also cars, campers, motorcycles or however you choose to arrive.

There will be bounce houses, face painting, games, great food, music and all sorts of fun. There’s even a playground at the airport.

Besides the activity in the Kids Zone, the children might like to see all the activity of the airplanes. You never know where we might find the next airline pilot. We have one who is based here, and she’s a role model for all children.

Parking for motorists will be just south of the fence separating the airfield from the grass. By parking cars close to the fence, visitors for Eclipse 2024 will be able to enjoy the activity on the airport, set up a spot to watch the eclipse close to their vehicle and also enjoy the musical events, the food trucks and the family fun activities all within just a few steps. Motorists are asked to follow the traffic pattern and volunteers leading to the parking lots.
